We are back up and running again after the massive power outage.
One of the disadvantages to local hosting is reliance on the local power grid. Thus we have been down.
I would like to hear stories from some of you as to what happened to you during the blackout?

| Power out 9 days. Some friends in Culloden were without for 11 days. A friend in Red House had the power restored, but today the pole caught on fire and the fire dept. on Rt. 34 had to put it out, so no power again. The rain brought down another tree on our road today. Lots & lots of firewood everywhere. |

Our power was out for several hours on at least three occasions. Our son lost his for over twenty four hours. We didn't have the problems that so many others had.
I am in the process of equiping one of our houses with a generator. |

Generators are good. I have a 5.5 KW Generator with a gasoline engine equal to a 350CC motorcycle engine. It works but it is a real pain after a few days of day and night operation.
If you have a propane or LNG tank on your property. That is a far better but more expensive option. This way you do not need to fool with gasoline cans.
There are some generators that run on Natural gas. This is real good for women and or older people who are not mechanically inclined.
I am glad you folks made it through the great blackout OK. _________________ Milton West Virginia Message Board Frontpage

| Planning on a natural gas generator for my sons house. The pad is being poured today. We will at least have somewhere to go. Maybe later we will get another NG one for our house or maybe a gasoline one. Have to wait for the bank account to recover. |
