I have been in touch with the American Legion State office. If Jimmy Smith was not given the same opportunity as TC to display his election signs and such then they are in violation ART II Section 2 "The American Legion shall be absolutely non-political and shall not be used for the dissemination of partisan principles nor for the promotion of any person seeking office or in preferment."

I have more questions and will be talking with the State office again soon. I just went to the post and took pictures to show where the truck is parked in relation to the Legion. Is there any way to post pictures on the blog? It has also come to my attention that the were giving away "free" hot dogs.

I heard there was a parting of the ways right after the first letter was written and that the second letter was coming. Don't know what caused the change.

I have heard nothing as well about expanding the city limits. I would need more information to take a position.

For those of you who have not voted yet PLEASE take the time to read the Voice of the people section on page 7a in the Herald-Dispatch. There are really 2 articles one posted in the Herald-Dispatch on May 2 and then the one published today. Within this short period of time this person went from thninking TC was the right man for the job to a complete turn around. Sure would like to know why the change.

As you know, I don't live in the city limits, so I can't vote in the city elections. However, it has been interesting to note the campaign signs OUTSIDE city limits. There is a Canterbury sign out Mud River Road and also signs as you leave Cabell Midland H.S. Guess they are trying to attract the Lincoln Co. voters and 18-yr.-olds.

Just curious...there has been talk of annexation of outlying areas. Does anyone know if either of the mayoral candidates want to extend the city boundaries?

I know that TC and the polyp are worried, you can tell be the increase of signs around town he and the polyp have put up. Jimmy is giving him a run for his money. Bob and I are going to do whatever we can to help Jimmy get elected.

There is someone else who needs to be voted off the council who I will talk about soon. This person took money for a job he took but never did. These people have profited from their positions on the council. Are they the kind of people you want taking care of our town? I sure don't.

Jimmy Smith passed out flyers giving the public a synopsis of who he is and what he would do for Milton. Many of his goals are things that Milton has needed for along time and were promised by TC and his polyp CC. His character speaks a trustworthy testimony to what he will accomplish as Mayor. Streets and sidewalks were one but to my knowledge the only one done was the doctor on rt60 who got her's done because she was going out of town. Sewer and water departments will be up to date and inspected and all repairs made.

Jimmy is a man of integrity, honesty, dedication, commitment and above all personal conviction. A man with so many accomplishments and achievements will not fail you.

He will in my opinion make a Mayor that Milton can be proud of.

Has anyone else noticed that TC and CC's sign is gone from the house across the street from City Hall? I wonder what happened to it this time? The house next door from City Hall has signs, thought Mrs. Green sold it to the city. This election Eli White won't have to sit by Mrs. Green in church and tell her how badly her candidate treats his wife and claim to have acess to "sealed court documents". You need to watch when you lie on someone it just might come back to bite you in the butt.

The description of some of the candidates was interesting. I agree, people should be interested in the election.

I drove past city hall today. If I remember correctly the house next door belongs to the city. I saw a mayoral canpaign sign in the yard of this house. I'm not an expert but I think thats not legal. Thoughts?

I thought there would be more interest in the election. People who were voted out last time are trying to get re-elected . If we didn't want you then we don't want you now. We have an excellent opponent and a wonderful chance to get TC out of office.......JIMMIE SMITH. If they had not changed the meet the candidates date and time more people would have had a chance to talk with them. Would lke to know what Charlie Conard will do if TC isn't elected.

Come on people you can't be that complacent. The town needs some life to it, get involved, show you care.

Well, it's election time again and I'm back again. Lots of choices this time around. There are the 2 usual joined at the hip TC and his buddy Charlie Conard, the ever flamboyant councilman Wisman, Cecil Taylor trying to get back on the council, the I got your back man, Carl Harsbarger, the new guy Cremeans and the ever hopeful Frank Mullins. The best choice for mayor in my opinion is Jimmie Smith. Born and raised here, owns businesses here and if anyone cares about Milton it's him. Jimmie has more business experience in his little finger than TC has in his whole hand.

I can't answer the first part of your question. There was an article in the paper a few weeks ago about who was running.

Tom Canterbury and Jimmy Smith are running for mayor. Phyllis Smith is running for recorder, no mention of Mike Adams. I think all the current council members were running as well as Cecil Taylor, ? Legg, Tony Cremeans, and thats all I can remember.

Hope this helps.

Here is a link w/some info on the house fire on Harrison St. this morning. One source said the home belonged to Debbie Casey (?). http://www.wsaz.com/news/headlines/Fire-Severly-Damages-Hme-in-Milton-189362671.html

Made it back to Mayberrys/Aunt Bs today for lunch. We both had the bbq sandwich and it was worth the wait. They also had cupcakes and cookies, I bought all the snickerdoodles.

A little bit of a drive but it was worth it.

John was w/the Milton PD in the late 80s and 90s...I think. He also ran for mayor unsuccessfully a few years ago, although he did serve a few terms on council.

RIP Sir.

I have an update on Aunt Bs. They will be closing their current location at Christmas. Don't worry, they have bought Mayberrys just up the road in the plaza where the Ace Hardware store is located. We had lunch there yesterday and the owners said BBQ will be back in a few weeks. Cupcakes will be back as will cookies, pies, and brownies. They also plan other changes in the menu.

Too bad they aren't here in Milton but still close enough to enjoy.

There was a nice article in the Chas. Gazette today about a former Miltonian who worked on Obama's re-election campaign in Chicago.

I was out earlier today and saw numerous vehicles at Village Inn. There was a sign by the road that said there was a sale of some sort. The sun made it very difficult to read. I am guessing that the owner was selling off the fixtures.

Several months ago I tried the "new" city website with no success. It has been under construction for quite a while by the city storm water guy. Maybe someday.

City Website

I think the city website should be removed. It has been "under construction" for years and the information is outdated. It lists council members John Bledsoe, Gary Holbert, Bob Legg and Cecil Taylor and none are council members. In fact, one is deceased. I would think it would be better to have no website, than to have this one.
